QuarterDraft Background

The Game

Forget filling out brackets. In QuarterDraft, you draft tournament teams and earn coins as they win. Strategy matters. Every pick counts.

1

Create or Join a League

Gather 8 friends and start a private league. Each league has its own draft, standings, and payouts.

2

Draft Your Teams

Take turns picking from all 64 tournament teams in a live snake draft. Build your roster with intention.

3

Watch, Win, Collect

As your teams advance through the tournament, you earn coins. The deeper they go, the more you win.

The Draft

The heart of QuarterDraft. No algorithms, no auto-picks - just you and your strategy.

Snake Draft Format

The draft uses a snake order: the member who picks first in round 1 picks last in round 2, and so on. This keeps things fair and forces you to think several rounds ahead.

Draft positions are randomized when the commissioner starts the draft - no one knows their spot until it begins.

8 Members, 8 Picks Each

Every league has exactly 8 members. Each member drafts 8 teams, totaling 64 picks - one for every team in the tournament bracket.

Every tournament team is owned by someone. No team goes undrafted. That means every single game matters to at least one person in your league.

Live & Interactive

Drafts happen in real-time. When it's your turn, you pick from the available teams on the draft board. Everyone in the league can watch picks as they happen.

The visual draft board shows all 64 bracket positions organized by region, so you can see matchups and plan your strategy at a glance.

Strategy is Everything

Do you load up on top seeds? Target mid-major Cinderellas? Corner a region? Stack one side of the bracket? Every approach has trade-offs.

Unlike a bracket pool where everyone can pick the same winners, in QuarterDraft once a team is drafted, it's gone. Scarcity creates strategy.

Scoring

When one of your teams wins a game, you earn coins equal to the team's seed multiplied by the round multiplier. Lower seeds are worth more - and the deeper they go, the bigger the payout.

Coins earned per win

Seed × Round Multiplier

Round Games Multiplier
Round of 64 32 ×1
Round of 32 16 ×2
Sweet 16 8 ×3
Elite 8 4 ×4
Final Four 2 ×5
Championship 1 ×6

Example: Chalk

A 1-seed wins in the Round of 64:

1 × 1 = 1 coin

Example: Upset

A 12-seed wins in the Sweet 16:

12 × 3 = 36 coins

Each coin has a dollar value set by the league. Coins earned minus your buy-in determines your payout. Drafting Cinderellas can pay off big.

Why Not Just Do a Bracket?

Brackets are fun for 10 minutes. QuarterDraft keeps you locked in for the entire tournament.

Brackets: One and Done

You fill it out before the tournament and hope for the best. One upset and your bracket is busted.

QuarterDraft: Every Game Matters

You own teams. Every win earns you coins. Upsets don't ruin your chances - they might help you.

Brackets: Everyone Picks the Same Favorites

Most bracket pools have 80% of participants picking the same Final Four. Where's the fun in that?

QuarterDraft: Scarcity Creates Strategy

Once a team is drafted, no one else can have it. You have to adapt, strategize, and outthink your league.

Brackets: Solo Experience

You fill out a bracket alone and compare results at the end. There's no shared moment.

QuarterDraft: Draft Night is an Event

The live draft is a social experience. Trash talk, surprise picks, and real-time strategy with your friends.

The Bracket

QuarterDraft covers the full NCAA tournament bracket - all 68 teams, including the First Four.

4 Regions, 64 Teams

The tournament bracket is divided into four regions of 16 teams each. Seeds 1 through 16 face off in a single-elimination format until one team from each region reaches the Final Four.

First Four Play-In Games

Four play-in games determine the last teams to enter the Round of 64. These slots are drafted as "play-in winner" positions - you get whichever team wins the play-in game for that slot.
